At 4-Q we believe in supporting our youth. Our sponsorship for Payton is a great way to help her achieve her goals. This young lady is an excellent ambassador for us and is an inspiration to those younger kids in FFA, 4-H and other school and community sponsored activities that represent the Ag-based industry.
Hello, My name is Payton Tomlin. I am currently a Senior at Poolville High School. I have spent most of my life being moved from school to school as a military kid. My dream of owning horses and competing in Rodeo became a reality when we settled on a farm in Texas. Academically, I have maintained A’s in all of my classes. For my junior year, I received seven academic awards including top student, most improved and recognition for citizenship. Along with High School Rodeo, I am part of Poolville FFA. I have competed on the Poolville Poultry team. During the Parker County Livestock Show, I won four buckles in both Champion Bird and Champion Showmanship for my poultry.
I first competed in the North Texas High School Rodeo during my sophomore year. I started competing in barrels with my horse Merlin. He and I made it all the way to the 2021-2022 Barrel/Pole invitational finals, where we took 2nd place in 5D. Over the summer of 2022, I purchased another horse, Baron. I have worked with Baron over the last year, training him in both barrels and poles. During the 2022-2023 season, I ran both Merlin and Baron in barrels, taking turns for both experience and points for both my boys, which took us to the Finals once again. For this year I will be running Merlin in barrels one last time before his retirement, while I will compete with Baron in poles.
